Weather - General statement:
Outdoor adventure can be enjoyed during the times when it isn't absolutely perfect outside which is almost always.
We will not wait for perfect weather or a sunny day to go. We still go in rain, fog, and most temps. Thunderstorms and heavy rains will typically move through the area quickly and with careful planning we are able to complete the trip.

Weather:
Most days in the UP are great days for an adventure anywhere in the UP. We are able to adventure most days, but there are those when we see heavy rains and thunderstorms, or high winds that make it difficult to enjoy the beauty of the UP safetly. We do hike, paddle, and adventure in light rain and foggy conditions as it can result in calm conditions on the water and a cooler experience in the forest, and the pictures are better too than in bright bright sunlight.

Weather Cancellation Policy:
In that neither our customers nor our company are responsible for the weather, our weather cancellation policy is as follows:

Please Note:
Normally decisions about the weather are not determined until the day of a trip, weather across the UP can change quickly, what looks nasty on the radar or overhead can pass over quickly or change directions quickly. Typically, wind direction, velocity, and wave heights guide our weather decisions.
If we cancel the trip due to weather or other reasons you will be issued a refund or an opportunity to reschedule your tour.
In the event of thunderstorms in the immediate area we can often delay a tour until they pass. If we cannot delay you will be issued a refund or an opportunity to reschedule.
Refunds can take 10-14 days to credit back to your account, you will be refunded the way you paid for your tour or rental.
In order to receive a refund you must show up for the trip unless we call/email/text you with the cancellation notice.

Final Note:
It is a fact of life that neither of us can control the weather. We are often able to adventure across the UP most days of the year, there are times however that severe thunderstorms, high winds, snow storms, and other weather reasons we have to cancel an adventure. Our best advice is to schedule your vacation for at least 2-5 days so you have plenty of time to enjoy this beautiful Upper Peninsula should we have some less than ideal weather.

Hope to see you on a tour soon! -- Yooper Steve

About Me

Your Adventure Guide

Hi, I am Yooper Steve Jurmu, I know how to get around the entire Upper Peninsula of Michigan better than anyone. I grew up in Marquette and moved to the Copper Country during high school. Since childhood I have explored the forests and waters of the Upper Peninsula. I enjoy hiking, camping, fishing, kayaking, teaching survival skills, cross county skiing, snowshoeing, and off road adventuring. My Top 3 areas to explore and relax are the Keweenaw peninsula, Porcupine Mtns, and the Huron Mountains. I like many other places in the U.P. but these areas have many adventures with less crowds for extreme solitude.
