About the World Famous Pioneers Tour

All Ages : Popular

The World Famous Pioneers Tour is about history, beautiful waterfalls, and large glacial boulders This adventure takes places north of L'Anse on the outskirts of the ancient Huron mountains (once some of tallest in the world). Henry Ford had a lot of influence in this region and we will see a couple Henry Ford mines, an iron mine, a graphite mine, he also did a lot of logging, wood was used in his automobiles as well. Did you know in 1919 Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, Harvey Firestone, Edward Kingsford, and John Burroughs took a camping trip through the Upper Peninsula? Imagine these great pioneers all together in one place exploring the Upper Peninsula. If that isn't cool enough we explore many beautiful waterfalls that are rarely seen, some of the most scenic in the area. There is a lot of beauty in this area and much of it is rarely seen by most people. Join this tour and walk where Henry Ford walked and explored. BONUS: During berry season mid July to early August we sometimes pick berries along the way.

About Me

Your Adventure Guide

Hi, I am Yooper Steve, I know how to get around the entire Upper Peninsula of Michigan better than anyone. I grew up in Marquette and moved to the Copper Country during high school. Since childhood I have explored the forests and waters of the Upper Peninsula. I enjoy hiking, camping, fishing, kayaking, teaching survival skills, cross county skiing, snowshoeing, and off road adventuring. My Top 3 areas to explore and relax are the Keweenaw peninsula, Porcupine Mtns, and the Huron Mountains. I like many other places in the U.P. but these areas have many adventures with less crowds for extreme solitude.
