The Walk with the Monks Tour is wonderful tour that gives you some great views, walk around a reflection pond, walk in a historic site, waterfalls in a gorge. We hike along a beautiful trail through a red pine and hardwood forest to a reflecting pond, once in awhile we see a trout swimming, we then make our way through an apple orchard and start a descend down a gravel road with great views of Great Sand Bay and Lake Superior. We then take a break at the Monks bakery called the Jampot to pick up some goodies. We then hike the Jacobs creek gorge to view over a half mile of waterfalls on our way to an old historic copper mine site. BONUS: During berry season mid July to early August we sometimes pick berries along the way.

Hi, I am Yooper Steve, I know how to get around the entire Upper Peninsula of Michigan better than anyone. I grew up in Marquette and moved to the Copper Country during high school. Since childhood I have explored the forests and waters of the Upper Peninsula. I enjoy hiking, camping, fishing, kayaking, teaching survival skills, cross county skiing, snowshoeing, and off road adventuring. My Top 3 areas to explore and relax are the Keweenaw peninsula, Porcupine Mtns, and the Huron Mountains. I like many other places in the U.P. but these areas have many adventures with less crowds for extreme solitude.
